Gooseberry Jam

4 pounds gooseberries 3 pounds sugar I pint red currant juice Melt the sugar in the currant juice, let boil five minutes after boiling actually begins; add the berries and let boil about forty minutes, skimming as needed. Set aside until next day.

Skim the berries into jars, boil the syrup until thick (ten to fifteen minutes), and pour over them.
