CATAWBA

one of the most celebrated of native American wines. It is a "white" wine, both still and sparkling, of fine flavor, originally produced from the Catawba grape, and now from their blending with other varieties, such as Delawares, etc.

The highest priced variety is the "sparkling"--the finer grades of which compare favorably with imported wines.

The sparkling variety should be served cold; the "still" at about the temperature of the room.

Some red Catawba is made, but in comparatively small quantity.

"Sweet Catawba" is a rich fortified wine.
