CUTTLE-FISH BONE

as known to the retailer, is the bone of a kind of shell-fish, placed in cages for birds to whet their bills upon it. It should be kept by all grocers who sell bird food as it is a small and profitable item and not liable to spoil. It is also sometimes used in the preparation of tooth-powders, for polishing metals, etc.
