a valuable lubricant for machinery. If of good quality, it is pale-yellowish or nearly colorless, of slightly fatty odor and bland taste. It becomes opaque at or below 32 degree Fahr. Admixture of cotton-seed oil is not readily detected, if only refined and very pale grades are employed, but any deep-colored lard oil, or one having a pronounced yellow tint, is open to suspicion.
