LICHEN

a moss which grows on trees or rocks. It has many colors and forms, from the grey or green covering on stones, and the larger and more bushy types attaching to trees, up to the edible forms such as ICELAND MOSS, which grows over large areas and is an important food for man and beast in the Arctic.
