MANNA

a species of sugar extracted chiefly from the Manna Ash, native to the mountainous parts of Southern Europe, by making small incisions in the stems. It is principally used medicinally. The best quality is known as Flake Manna.

The name "Manna" has also been applied to numerous special food preparations.
