MEAL-WORM

the larva of a winged insect which frequently does much damage in granaries, mills and stores where meal and flour are stored. It is generally shiny in appearance and of pale brown color. Cleanliness and care are the only preventives against its depredations.

Meal-worms are a favorite food for caged singing birds.
