SELF-RAISING FLOUR

wheat or buckwheat flour prepared by the addition of substances which, when moistened, have the same effect as yeast or baking powder. It is largely sold for pancake and biscuit purposes to save time in cooking by avoiding the process of setting to rise, as with yeast, or mixing, as when ordinary flour and baking powder are used.
