TURMERIC

is the yellow root-stock of a plant of the ginger family, marketed both in root form and as a powder. It is the principal ingredient in curry powders and is also used for mixing with mustard and other spices. Its yellow color, after extraction known as Curcuma Oil and Curcumin, is employed as a dye-stuff, in chemistry, etc.
