WEEVIL

a tiny brown wingless beetle, the greatest pest of stored grain. Among the numerous varieties are the corn-weevil, grain-weevil, nut-weevil and rice-weevil. They are liable to be found in any cereal product, package or bulk, kept on hand for a long time, especially if the surrounding are not clean.

Absolute cleanliness and a stock that is "turned over" at frequent intervals are the only practical preventives. Because of the possibility of this pest invading them, it does not pay to buy cereals in large quantities.
