Asparagus Custard

1 can asparagus tips 1/3 cup cream 1/2 cup grated cheese 3 eggs, well beaten 1/2 teaspoon salt shake of paprika Mix cream with cheese and pour over asparagus tips placed in the bottom of a greased baking dish. Heat in oven until cheese is melted. Season the eggs and pour over. Return to oven until set. Serves 4 to 6.

A simple baked cheese custard that leans entirely on canned asparagus, in the manner of 1930s meatless-menu cookery. The original gives no oven temperature, which is the one gap worth filling before you start.
