November Punch

2 cups tea, boiling hot 1 stick cinnamon 6 whole cloves 3 lemons (juice) 1 1/2 cups simple syrup 3 oranges, sliced 1 quart cider 1 quart ginger ale Pour boiling hot tea over coves and cinnamon, add lemon juice, simple syrup and oranges. Ripen on ice until ready to serve. Remove cinnamon. Pour over iced cider and iced ginger ale. Serves 12.

A cold spiced punch built on a tea base, with the fizz added only at the moment of serving. Nothing here is difficult; the timing and the temperature of the two liquid quarts are what decide whether it works.
