Cranberry Soup

Cover 1 quart cranberries with cold water, bring quickly to boiling point, strain, and discard liquid. Add 1 quart hot water to berries with 1 cup sugar and salt to taste. Cook 15 minutes, drop in flour dumplings, cook 10 minutes and serve.

For the Modern Kitchen

A tart fruit soup thickened only by its dumplings, of the kind that camp cooks made from a bag of berries and a little flour. Two things need attention: the quart measure of berries and the dumplings, for which no recipe is given here.
