SWORDFISH

a large fish found in the Mediterranean, Atlantic and Pacific, highly esteemed for food, both fresh and salted. It takes its name from the fact that the upper jaw is remarkably elongated and compressed in the form of a sword or dagger. On our coasts it frequently reaches 12 feet in length and a weight of 400 pounds.
