Okra or Gumbo (This delightful vegetable)

This delightful vegetable is comparatively unknown to many persons living outside of large cities. It is wholesome and nutritious, and seems to be the proper thing to serve with tomatoes or rice. Gumbo soup of the South is a great delicacy, and those who have eaten the Brunswick stew in Virginia will never forget the delicious compound. They may be preserved for winter use by simply cutting them in rings and stringing them on cords to dry, or they may be canned the same as other vegetables.
