Emerald Cookies

1/2 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1 egg, well beaten 1/4 cup milk 1/4 teaspoon vanilla 2 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 cup sugar red and green fruit coloring Cream shortening and sugar, add egg, milk and flavoring. Stir in flour, mixed with baking powder. Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours. Roll out 1/4 in. thick and bake in a hot oven (400 degrees F.) until brown. Ice with sugar, mixed with red and green coloring. Makes 40 3-in. cookies.
