Raisin-Cranberry Pie (Mock Cherry)

3/4 cup sugar 2 tablespoons flour 1 cup cranberries, cut in halves 1/2 cup raisins, seeded and cut in pieces 2 tablespoons shortening Cover the bottom of a pie plate with paste. Reserve enough for upper crust. Fill with ingredients mixed in order given. Bake 30 minutes in moderate oven. Some prefer more sugar. Makes 1 pie.

For the Modern Kitchen

A two-crust winter pie built on the one fruit that keeps until Christmas. The instructions assume a cook who already knows how to line a plate with pastry, so the gaps are all in the pastry and the oven.
