Cooking and eating utensils based on needs for 4 persons: Coffee pot 3-quart cooking pot 5-quart cooking pot 61/2 quart cooking pot 9-inch frying pan 10-inch frying pan (or both frying pans same size, one to serve as cover for the other) Covers for all Salt and pepper containers 4 unbreakable plates, cups and bowls 4 knives, forks and spoons Scout or sheath knives I ax I can opener that really works I corkscrew that doesn't bend Waterproof match boxes 1 bucket (a folding canvas one takes little space) Reflector baker A few oddments that come in handy are lengths of string, a couple of yards of cheesecloth, a few nails, cooking parchment, paper napkins for many uses, waterproof food containers, stickfast mending tape to hold down corks, and a big square of mosquito netting.
If you want more luxury than this, take along a two burner oil stove (we prefer the new Primus) and a folding oven. Then you can, if you must, turn out your kitchen drawers and tote along all the contents, wishing you could have the electric mixer along, too.
