Primary Equipment

The primary equipment for getting civilized meals in the open has all been boiled down into one nested mess kit consisting of frying pan, saucepan, covered cooking pot, and cup-the hiker's cooking outfit for a single person as standardized for sale by all outdoor outfitters. To this must be added a cooking spoon and general utility knife. Just add a coffee pot, enlarge the size of each utensil, take a cup for each person and light metal plates, and you'll have primary equipment for as many as will go with you.
