The woman of the house should know the location of the shutoff of the water pipes. A friend of mine had a disastrous experience because she had no idea where to shut off the water leading to the bathroom. The pipe burst while the men of the family were away, and before the plumber could reach the house, the ceiling of the room below was soaked with water and the plaster had loosened and fallen. The expense of replastering and a great deal of inconvenience might have been avoided had she known how to shut off the water.-M. R., Traverse City, Mich.
