Two cups sugar, one-half cup butter, one cup of milk, three and a-half of flour, two eggs, one teaspoonful Cook's Friend; flavour with lemon.
The ladies of 1870s Chicago pooled their recipes and signed every one — corned beef from Mrs. Beaty, lemon pie from Mrs. Saulter.
