IX. Directing Letters.

In directing envelopes be careful to write plainly, and especiany avoid any eccentricities, such as some silly persons indulge in. It is best in directing a letter for a small place, to put county as well as State; but both may be omitted from letters going to metropolitan cities, as Boston, St. Louis, New Orleans, etc. The following form is best:
