Banana, The

The Banana is becoming extremely popular and even fashionable as a fruit food. In the United States it is mostly eaten baked, toasted, fried, or boiled. When properly cooked the American doctors recommend it as an ideal food for nervous people and brain workers. It is fresher and cheaper in the States than here, being so much nearer the seats of its production. The sugar planters of the West Indies are now profitably turning their attention to the cultivation of this fruit.
