Cheese Pancakes

Cut some slices of Gruyere cheese half an inch thick and about the size of the top of a wine-glass; sprinkle with cayenne, dip in batter, and fry for three minutes. Serve at once on a very hot dish. Probable cost, 6d. for six or eight slices.
