Pumpkin or Squash Pie

Mix 3 cupfuls thick stewed and sieved pumpkin or squash, 2 cupfuls milk, 1 cupful sugar, 1 teaspoonful salt, 2 eggs, 1/2 teaspoonful cinnamon, pinch cloves. Line 2 pie-plates as for custard pie; bake in moderate oven.

For the Modern Kitchen

A plain, thrifty pumpkin custard of the kind that filled two pies from one pot of stewed squash. The proportions run lean on egg and heavy on liquid, so the set is the thing to watch.
