Fifteen photographic leaves are bound into these two volumes, and every single one carries the same four words at the foot: Courtesy of the Delineator. The Delineator was the Butterick Publishing Company's magazine — one of the largest women's monthlies in America — and in 1905 a photograph of cooked food was expensive enough that a subscription set borrowed its pictures rather than shooting them. Several of Book Three's are signed by Anna W. Morrison, and they are not single dishes at all but whole bills of fare, laid and lit.
