Waldorf Salad

1 head of celery, 3 good eating apples, 1/2 cupful chopped English walnuts. Cut the celery and apples into cubes. Mix the nuts with them. Arrange on lettuce leaves, and pour over each dish a little mayonnaise or a cooked salad dressing.

For the Modern Kitchen

A short recipe that depends almost entirely on how the apples are handled. Cut them last and dress them at once, or the salad browns before it reaches the table.
