An Inexpensive Cake

One cup of black molasses, one-half cup of brown sugar, one-half cup of butter, one cup of hot water, one dessertspoon of soda, two cups of flour, one dessertspoon of spices, using ginger or not, to your taste. This may be used for pudding, or by adding fruit makes a nice fruit cake. Bake in a quick oven.- Mary Miner.
