Russian Carrots

3 tablespoons shortening 2 cups carrots, diced 1 cup sugar 3/4 cup water 1/2 teaspoon salt Brown diced carrots in shortening. Boil sugar and water together 10 minutes, add carrots and salt and boil until tender. Brown slightly and serve. Serves 4.
