Spanish Buns
Two and one-half cups brown sugar, ½ cup butter, 1 cup sour milk, 4 eggs (saving the whites for frosting), 2½ cups flour, 1 teaspoon soda, 1 teaspoon nutmeg, 1 teaspoon cloves, 1 teaspoon vanilla; bake in a dripping pan; cut in squares and pour frosting over. Mix as for cake. 1/2 cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 cups pastry flour SPICE CAKE-Exceptionally Good 2 level teaspoons Calumet Baking Powder 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg teaspoon cinnamon teaspoon salt cup water Yolks of 4 eggs, or 2 whole ones Cream butter and sugar thoroughly, and add eggs. Sift together three times flour, baking powder, spices and salt, and add alternately with water.
