Pumpkin Transparent Pie

Made without milk or eggs. 2 pounds of pumpkin--or 1 quart. 1 pound of sugar. 4 ounces of butter.

Flavoring either of lemon rind, cloves or nutmeg. The pumpkin must be dry, either baked or steamed. Mash it through a strainer, mix the sugar and butter with it and let simmer at the side of the range to become thick. Flavor, and bake in crusts.
