A Pleasant Hint

For a room that has become close, either from use or tobacco smoke, can be made sweet and habitable by placing one-half ounce of spirits of lavender and a lump of salts of ammonia in a wide-mouthed jar, leaving uncovered. This is a good disinfectant.

Salt sprinkled over the carpet before sweeping will absorb the dust and dirt and bring out the colors as fresh as new.
