SPIREA ΕΧΙΜΙΑ. it is commonly called, and the double-flowered almonds produce in remarkable profusion, perfectly double, finely formed flowers of most attractive colors. At the blossoming season each little tree appears like one mass of bloom, forming a most beautiful and interesting object, whether planted singly upon the lawn or in groups. As the almond and plum flower at the same time, they can be massed very effectively. Both are hardy and of fine habit. The double flowering variety illustrated is a highly interesting and desirable addition to hardy shrubs; flowers double, of a delicate pink, upwards of an inch in diameter, thickly set on the long slender branches; flowers in May.
