Rough on Grease
The following will be found a most excellent preparation for taking grease-spots from carpets or other fabrics: Four ounces white Castile soap, four ounces alcohol, two ounces ether, three ounces ammonia, one ounce glycerine. Cut the soap fine; dissolve in one quart soft water over the fire; then add four quarts more soft water, after which add the spirits, and bottle. Cork tight. Apply with a stiff brush, and rinse. *
