Lady Cake

Cream one-half a cup of butter, add two cups of granulated sugar, beat well, add three-fourths of a cup of milk, three cups of flour, three rounded teaspoons of baking powder, one-half teaspoon of almond extract, and fold in the well-beaten whites of five eggs. When baked cover with icing flavored with almond extract.
