Acid Tartaric (Pints I pint I pint drams)
: 6. pints I pint I pint 2½ drams Dissolve the acid in the infusion, and add, with the lemon syrup, to the syrup of strawberry. Serve, without foam, in thin mineral glasses. Willis Wood.
First a 10-ounce glass full of crushed ice and 4 sprigs of fresh mint; then with a mallet bruise the mint until the pungent juice mingles with the ice. Next add blood orange syrup and fill with soda. The finishing touchessprig of mint, slice of pineapple and maraschino cherry. Wine a la Egg.
One ounce champagne syrup, I whole egg, small quantity cracked ice. Shake together with hand shaker; then add enough plain soda to fill the glass. Mix well by pouring from tumbler to shaker; strain through julep strainer into tumbler. Add a little grated nutmeg and serve. Wine of Coca.
Fluid extract of coca, 2 ounces; port wine, 1 gallon; sherry wine, 2 gallons; powdered orris-root, 2 ounces. Color to suit. Let it stand 48 hours, then filter. The finished product should measure 3 gallons. Wintergreen Syrup. 1/2 ounce I gallon
