Laundering

The equipment for laundering napery is very simplelarge tubs are not necessary, except for the biggest cloths. In fact, it is a good plan to do up small linens as soon as possible after they are soiled for stains that are allowed to remain in, are correspondingly difficult to remove. Often only one or two doilies or napkins of a set need washing. If they are "done up," at once-one does not miss the time-and the whole set is fresh again. The following equipment is essential, a small wash boiler or good-sized kettle for necessary boiling, a large enameled or aluminum pan for starching. Be sure that these are scrupulously clean before using. Good soap flakes, Linit, clothes pins and a clean line. A padded ironing board, with two ironing sheets. It is impossible -as well as absurd-to iron well on a soiled ironing board. When not in use the board should be slipped into a chintz cover. Heavy, smooth, ordinary irons, or a good electric iron, complete the equipment.
