French Onion Soup

6 Medium-sized Onions 3 Tablespoonfuls Snowdrift 1 Quart Well-seasoned Soup Stock 6 Squares of Toast American Cheese Melt the Snowdrift in a frying-pan, add the onions, sliced, and fry very gently until they are tender. Then add the soupstock, with salt and pepper, if necessary, and simmer for five minutes. In the meantime, put a slice of American cheese on each piece of toast and let stand in the oven until the cheese melts. Put a piece of this cheese toast in each soup plate, pour over the soup, and serve.
