Fig Loaf

½ cup butter 1 cup granulated sugar ½ cup sweet milk 2 cups Five Roses flour (sifted) 3 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 eggs (whites) Figs Gradually Beat butter to a cream. beat in sugar, then alternately milk and sifted Five Roses flour with baking powder. Flavor with vanilla extract and beat in whites of 3 eggs beaten stiff.

Have ready about ½ pound table figs, cut in two or three pieces, and drop these pieces in batter here and there as it is being poured into buttered pan. Bake in moderate oven, and ice when it becomes cold.
