The title page is precise about where this book came from: "a Manual of Good Recipes carefully chosen from the contributions of over two thousand successful users of Five Roses Flour throughout Canada." Two thousand cooks wrote in; the mill's advertising department picked the best, had them checked by "competent authority", and printed 46 of them still signed — with the sender's name and the name of her town.
