The Average Cost of a Glass of Soda Water.

It is estimated that in every ten glasses of soda water sold there are- 6 glasses Fruit Syrups, with Ice Cream at 2/2c.. $0.15 3 glasses Phosphate and Plain Soda Drinks, without Ice Cream, at I 12c.. .04/2 I glass of either Mineral Water or Plain Soda Water, 1/2c. .00/2 Making 10 glasses cost Average cost per glass Profits of a Soda Water Season. 200 glasses Soda Water, selling 5c. per glass (One tank of Soda Water will draw 200 glasses.) Many fountains run profitably all the year round.

If 7 fountains are sold each week the profit would be • • • $10.00 4.00 6.00 156.00 1,092.00 From the above calculation it may readily be seen that a soda water apparatus must prove a profitable investment, as on a sale of but one fountain per week it will pay on an investment of $500, over 30 per cent., and on an investment of $1,000, 15 per cent.

It is a conservative estimate that the buyer of a $500 soda water apparatus will sell at least three fountains weekly, and the buyer of a $1,000 apparatus, seven; either thereby netting in the first season almost 100 per cent. on the investment.

The above profits are based upon the idea of making soda water from liquefied gas, but a still greater profit can be obtained by the dispenser using his own carbonator. The cost of soda water made with an automatic carbonator is as follows: 14 lbs. Liquefied Carbonic Acid Gas, at 1oc. per lb. Water, including that required to operate motor Total cost of 10 gallons of Soda Water $0.12/2 .01/2 .14 Thus 86c. can be saved over the cost of every fountain of water purchased at $1, or 36c. if made with a liquefied gas outfit, showing that an investment in a carbonator is a good one for it will soon pay for itself. Soda Water Economy - a Carbonator.

The fountain is productive by attracting trade. The carbonator is economy by reducing expenses, thereby increasing profits.
